Council

Cat Hopper is the Social Ministry Council Representative.

Social Ministry Committee

In order to achieve the objectives of this committee, focus should be on, but not limited to, the following duties and activities:

— Oversee and publicize outreach projects or social action programs in the local community.

— Oversee, organize and publicize appropriate appeals of the Church at large.

— Oversee the congregation’s study and consideration of the social statements proposed or issued by the ELCA.

— Work with all congregation organizations in executing outreach projects, including but not limited to, such projects as Red Cross blood drives, Melting Pot/Daily Bread, and Help House.

— Maintain Food Pantry

— Assist the president and Pastor(s), if requested, in maintaining and disbursing the Discretionary Fund to those in need.

— Work with all congregation members to collect products and/or monies for organizations that aid in working with the poor and other needy groups, including but not limited to, such groups as Good Samaritan Ministries, Safe Passage Domestic Violence Shelter, Ronald McDonald House, and The Crumley House.

Global and Regional Missions Committee

The primary purpose of this group is to help the congregation focus on areas of need outside the Tri-Cities area. In order to achieve the objectives of this committee, focus should be on, but not limited to, the following duties and activities:

— Oversee and publicize outreach projects or social action programs in the region, nationally and internationally.

— Oversee, organize and publicize appropriate appeals of the Church at large.

— Work with all congregation organizations in executing outreach projects, including but not limited to, such projects as Lutheran World Relief, Lutheran Disaster Response, ELCA World Hunger, and Heifer International.

— Assist the president and Pastor(s), if requested, in maintaining and disbursing the Discretionary Fund to those in need.

— Work with all congregation organizations in executing mission trips to aid needy individuals regionally, nationally and internationally.
