“…not even in Israel have I found such faith…”

“He said, ‘I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.'” (Luke 7:9)

A man, who wasn’t a follower like the rest of His entourage, came up to Jesus one day. He had sent word that the man’s slave, whom he dearly loved, was ill. He asked if Jesus could heal him.

Jesus immediately got up and headed for this “pagan’s” home. The man came out to Him when he heard that Jesus was coming personally to do this for him.

He didn’t expect such service, so much so that he asked Jesus, “Just say the word, and my servant will be healed!”Even our Lord seemed pleasantly surprised! Jesus then quoted the passage printed above.

As Christians, do we think we have cornered the market on faith and trust? Because we “do the things Christians are required to do,” does that make us somehow separate and special from others?

He undoubtedly was looking around at His own followers (which included the disciples) when He made this statement about this “outsider’s” faith.

How shall we respond this day? How shall our treatment of people “different from us” change?

In fact, based on this story for Sunday, we’re taught that it’s not so much a difference between us as it is a difference in us, for, we all fall short of the glory of God….all!

Love your neighbor today, and live!

Remember, God loves you, and, He loves everybody else too! (Equally!) Amen.
